BBC Online News reports that business secretary Vince Cable is apparently going to warn delegates at the GMB union’s conference at Brighton later this month that co-ordinated strike action is likely lead to tougher union laws.
Mr Cable will acknowledge that the current level of strikes is at a low level historically but will warn that should this change with strikes imposing “serious damage to our economic and social fabric, the pressure on us to act would ratchet up.” http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13661098
It would serve the interests of Mr.Cable and the rest of his cabinet cohorts better to acknowledge the coalition’s deep unpopularity and that provoking resentment may well see even more protests by ordinary people. What would he then propose, to diminish our civil liberties for daring to protest? Here you will witness Mr. Cable singing the Conservative’s tune.
