Religious hatred

The murder by beheading of the grandmother in Tenerife by a maniac proclaiming to be “God on Earth” yet again underlines the lunacy of religious doctrine.

There is little doubt that Deyan Valentinov Deyanov is probably mentally unfit to stand trial. However, religion creates schisms in the minds of the criminally sane, such as those who commit sectarian atrocities and Muslim fundamentalists. Three people were beaten to death in Indonesia because they were deemed to be heretics from Islam. Christianity is not without blame: In Uganda a gay rights activist was beaten to death as a result of religious evangelists anti-gay sentiment. “David’s death is a result of the hatred planted in Uganda by U.S. evangelicals in 2009,” Val Kalende, the chairwoman of one of Uganda’s gay rights groups, said in a statement. In 2004 a Dutch film director, Theo Van Gogh,  was murdered in Amsterdam for making a film about women in Islam.

The end of our world will not be heralded by some man-made mahdi or supposed saviour, but may well be caused by the religious lunatics that we allow to be free to carry out their twisted will.
